Incahuasi or "House of the Inca", located in the valley of Cañete, close to the town of Lunahuana, is the most important and strategic city built by the Incas in the region. It is kind of a small Cusco, as it is the exact image of this Inca city, built by orders of Inca Pachacutec. The construction of this complex was done during the 15th century. It comprises four sections: the palace of the Inca, the quarters with its barns and warehouses, the convent city and the fortress.

The site is not officially open to the public but the person who cares the archaeological remains of Incahuasi (on voluntary basis) and conducts research for many years offers guided tours of the site.

Admission fees
The site is not officially open to the public. But there is a guide present that offers guided tours between S/. 40.00 for groups of 1-3 people and S/. 50.00 for groups of 4 people and more.

How to get to the Incahuasi Ruins ?

The nearest main city is Cañete.
The nearest main city is Lima.

How to get to Cañete by bus :

From Lima : Between 1h30 and 2 hours. To see bus companies, click here.
From Pisco : Between 2h and 2h30. To see bus companies, click here.
From Ica : Between 3 hours and 3h30. To see bus companies, click here.

In Cañete, there are taxis that will go to Lunahuana in +/- 45 min. You can also take a van (or "combi") to the town of Imperial and then another combi to Lunahuana. In combi, the trip from Cañete to Imperial takes about 15 min and the trip from Imperial to Lunahuana takes about 45 min. From Lunahuana, there are motorcycle taxi, taxis and combis that go to the Ruins of Incahuasi in +/- 15 min.

Be careful, after +/- 5:00pm, if it's not a weekend of high season (national holidays, long weekends, etc.), it can become difficult to find a taxi back to Cañete from Lunahuana. The latest combis departures are at about the same time.
